🏠 Lynn and Her Cat, Datou
Lynn and her British Shorthair, Datou, have been together for ten years.To Lynn, Datou is the gentlest presence in her everyday life.
🐱 How did you and your cat first meet?
“One day, a colleague asked me if I wanted a cat. I said yes. He took me to his house and told me he didn’t want to keep the cat anymore. When I asked why, he said his girlfriend already had one, and he didn’t really like cats himself. He couldn’t stand having a second one around.When I first saw Datou, he was curled up inside a cupboard. I handed my colleague a bag of cat food, and in exchange, I brought home this little soul who had been unwanted.”
💛 What made you decide to take him home?
“He looked so pitiful, hiding in a corner, refusing to eat. I kept thinking — how could such a sweet little cat have no one to love him? So I told myself, if no one else wants him, he’ll come home with me.”
☕ What’s your daily life together like?
“Maybe because he was abandoned before, Datou is incredibly clingy. Wherever I go, he follows. So most of our daily life is simply… him sticking close to me.”
🌿 How has he changed your life?
“He’s made me feel less lonely. I’ve always been someone who keeps to myself, with not many friends. Having him by my side gives me a kind of comfort I didn’t know I needed.”
📸 Is there a moment with him that you’ll never forget?
“There are so many. I love taking photos on my phone to capture those moments.One that really stands out is when a friend left their cat at my place while traveling. Datou immediately watched the newcomer like a little guardian — if that cat tried to scratch something, Datou would step in and stop him right away. It was like he was protecting our home.”
💔 Has there ever been something that made you feel heartbroken for him?
“Datou has always had separation anxiety. I think it’s because of what he went through as a kitten. My colleague wasn’t even his first owner — he’d already been abandoned twice before I found him. For a small cat, being passed around like that, in strange places with strangers… he must have been so scared back then.”
🌙 What do you wish for the future?
“I just want him to stay healthy. That’s why I decided to get him a smart feeder with a camera — I want to make sure he eats well, even when I’m not around.He’s ten years old now. I don’t know how much longer we’ll have together, but I want to make his life as comfortable and healthy as I can — so our time together can last a little longer.”
💬 If you could describe your relationship in one sentence, what would it be?
“After ten years together, he’s not my pet anymore— he’s my family.”
💬What problem do you think the smart feeder has helped you solve?
”My cat is already ten years old. With the smart cat feeder, I can feed him in a more scientific and consistent way, which helps prevent obesity and other health issues caused by irregular eating.
I really love the built-in camera — before, I could only spend time with him after work, but now, even when I’m at the office or traveling, I can still see him through the camera. It makes our time together feel longer.
Although I don’t want to admit it, as he grows older, I know that one day I might lose him. The smart feeder gives me comfort — it feels like I’m still there with him, even when I’m not.‘
💡 Do you have any suggestions for the product you’re currently using?
“So far, it has basically met all my needs, but I do have an idea.To make Datou feel less lonely, I’m thinking about getting a second cat,
and I hope they can play happily together. 🐱🐱Right now, this smart feeder is perfect for one cat,but if I have two, the capacity might need to be a bit larger —or perhaps it could come with an additional bowl.” 💡
